Ben & Chelsea
I’ll be honest, when I see posts online looking for a photographer for a friend, I don’t expect much. It usually results in the friend price shopping and you never get to talk to the couple or make a connection. Luckily, this wasn’t one of those cases! I was delighted when Chelsea messaged me about her and her fiance’s vision for a Torrey Pines engagement session! They loved the idea of having two landscapes: one with a mountain look and the other at the beach. And Torrey Pines State Park is a perfect spot for a variety of interesting looks for your engagement photos.
Ben and Chelsea were absolutely wonderful to work with! They were playful, silly, and just SO. MUCH. FUN. They’ve been close friends since high school and they showed up to their session with brand new matching tattoos to commemorate 2010, the year they became friends. Their fierce loyalty to each other was obvious and their happiness was so contagious. One of my favorite moments was when I prompted them to “drunk walk” by walking and bumping into each other. Chelsea excitedly exclaimed to Ben, “OH! The way we walk together in the grocery store!” Which cracked me up because Trevor and I do that too. It makes me wonder how many other couples do the “drunk walk” when they are perfectly sober; and also why does the grocery store make us act silly?!
Anyway, these two couldn’t have been any more awesome and fun during their Torrey Pines engagement photos! It certainly helped that the weather was basically perfect and the sunset was gorgeous! I also had the absolute honor to photograph their San Diego courthouse ceremony and their wedding celebration in beautiful Santa Cruz, CA.
