Amanda & Scott
This sweet and stormy Lake Cuyamaca engagement session turned out to be truly one of a kind. Amanda and Scott chose Lake Cuyamaca out past Julian as their location because of the beautiful lake, forest scenery, and a large wild field in the most brilliant red/orange. Amanda was concerned that it would rain since San Diego had a storm the whole previous week before the session. We decided rain was unlikely- we knew it would be chilly and cloudy, but we went for it anyway. Upon arriving, we realized we hadn’t checked the WIND. Oh man, was it windy AND cold. Poor Amanda in a dress couldn’t feel her legs. I’ve never actually done a session in such cold weather. Regardless of the cold and wind though, Amanda and Scott were absolute troopers and managed to look completely in love, rather than completely frozen!
We soon learned that time moves differently when you’re trying not to become an icicle and found ourselves far far from the parking lot and in the middle of an outfit change when we realized we were losing light FAST. On top of that, suddenly this seriously ominous fog rapidly descended and engulfed the mountain! We kept going even in the dark and despite the challenges, it was so much fun. I’m glad we had such an adventurous couple like Amanda and Scott to experience it with!
After getting back to the car in complete darkness, we cranked the heater, put on good tunes, and drove to Wynola Pizza. We enjoyed fun live music and Amanda and Scott treated us to some delicious pizza and brews. Despite being thoroughly wind-blown, we all had an absolute blast and it was an awesome experience!
